Went by the LGS today and picked up my G43. I had to work all day knowing it was riding with me in the trunk of my car and that made the day seem even longer. One thing I noticed about the G43 was the grip texture. It has a very similar pattern to the larger Gen 4's but not as aggressive. I think I notice it even more because of the lack of finger grooves. I had thought about the Talon grips but after shooting the 43, I don't think they are needed.
Once I got off work and got home, a package containing a new kydex IWB holste from "stay holstered" was in the mailbox waiting for me. I decided to go to the range and put a quick 50 rounds through it. Had to wait out a tornado warning but was finally able to head out. I brought along a box of Federal 115 grain FMJ's in the aluminum case. I bought these at Wal Mart a few months back for $8.99 a box and they perform well. As a side note, they seem to shoot very well in 40 S&W and 45 ACP too.
I loaded up both magazines and found them to be the easiest loading Glock magazines I have ever loaded. There were not any problems seating either magazine and I always chambered a round and the topped the magazine off. Still the magazines seated easily.
Firing the 43 was about like I expected it to be. It is very easy to control and a few double taps were easily accomplished. I think this pistol will prove to be very accurate. I was able to ring a steel gong at 50 yards. The reset is very short and is exactly what I expect from a Glock. I did not have any malfunctions what so ever. The slide locked back every time on the empty mags.
I'm really happy with my purchase. I have a few hundred more rounds to shoot through this little pistol before I carry it but thus far I am impressed. I do not care for the stock sights. At this point I'm leaning towards an XS Big Dot sight. I think the XS sights would be a great fit on a pistol like this. I also don't care for the magazine finger extension base plate. I prefer the flat base plate and may look for a replacement for the extension.
