So tonight after midnight I'm lying on my couch after work and all of a sudden I hear my storm door pulled forcefully opened and my entry door knob being turned. This is highly unusual. I jump off the couch torward the door with my pistol in hand, I yell whose at the door, my pistol is aimed at the door, I see a figure of a man thru the shaded glass of the door and yell again. The figure turns and runs. I peer thru the door and see police cars out front. I step out with the pistol holstered because I see uniform police and they are searching in my driveway with lights. They ask me to go in and I do. After all is said and done they were on my block for a domestic. The man trying to get thru my door was a police officer thinking the call was at my home. Thank god training does kick in and years of learning to identify your target first paid off. I could not Id my target clearly so I covered the door and waited or else a tragedy could have occurred.
Tragedy averted!
