Cool beer names...

dimanche 26 avril 2015

One of the benefits of the golden age of craft beer brewing that we find ourselves in is the prodigiously creative names and labels one can find while perusing the local beer selection...

While not the most creative or intriguing label, I found this beer to be actually pretty darn good...

What are some of your favorite beer names for beers that you actually drink?

Before Superfuzz, my favorite was Irish Death... I don't usually go for dark ales, but this one is sooo good...

Parts in common?

Is there a chart that tells you what is interchangeable? This might be a stupid question, but I would like to know which parts are compatible with what Glock models?

I wonder what the story is behind them.

(18+ minutes long, but pretty interesting )

Hello from CA

Stationed at Camp Pendleton, not in this state by choice. Just purchased my second Glock. Have a few questions so figured might as well join a forum.

Anyone built/had their home built

Just looking for experiences, advice, etc about having your home built or if you built your own home. Either being your own GC or maybe having some of the stuff done professionally and you doing part of the work or just having a turn key home built. Me and my wife have been looking for a new home out in the country, seems all of the best places in our price range and all that are always just too far of a drive and most of the stuff closer either doesn't have everything or there's always something wrong with it. So my grandparents said they'd deed us some land on the family farm to build on instead of trying to find something to buy. Always been a dream to live on the farm, my grandmother grew up their and they had planned on building out there again but old age and health creeped up on them too fast I guess. I know people say they'd rather buy because of all the stress and it's cheaper as well. Ideally we'd like to build a log cabin but have heard negative things about them as well so not sure which route we'll go. As far as the work I'm hoping to do to save a little, interior stuff like flooring, cabinets, trim, nothing crazy but anything saved it always helpful I guess. So what's everyone's experience with any of this fun stuff?

My 34 vs 17 experience

Have a gen 4 17 and 34. Shot the 34 for the first time today with TTI sights on it. TTI sights are awesome. Perfect balance of accuracy and speed with the sights. I put the yellow rod in. Doesn't work well indoors because it doesn't get any light. But I'm used to all black sights anyway so didn't make much difference.

Recoil is much softer on the 34. I was really surprised. The 17 is snappier, not that it's bad. But the 34 is like a .22. Was shooting Remington UMC 115g which is a soft load anyways but that's what I usually shoot.

The longer sight radius makes a nice difference as well and tight groups are easier with the 34. I can get the same groups with a 17 but you have to try harder. As far as tracking the sights, I don't know. I'm not good enough to tell much of a difference but the 34 slide cycles slower so I imagine it's easier.

I see a lot of people questioning whether they should get a 17 or 34. If it's for competition, like mine is, get the 34, it'll make a noticeable difference IMO. If it's for carry or something, I don't know. Toss up I guess.

The bigger question is gen 3 or 4? I got a gen 4 but probably should have gotten a gen 3 since I run the medium backstrap anyway, and will be changing to a steel guide rod so I can tune the recoil spring.
