2015 Police Road King Feedback

samedi 9 mai 2015

Talked to a motorcop the other day. He was on a 2015 Road King. I asked him how he liked it.

Generally, he was positive about it. It did what it needed to do - city/suburban traffic patrol.

He really liked the new saddlebag lever system which replaced the hockey pucks. The lever greatly increased saddlebag accessibility.

The lever system also improved the security of the saddlebag. It didn't pop open when he hit a bump.

The new seat mounted on a shock absorber is too high. It places the rider far above the motorcycle compared to the old spring / air shock combo seat. Stopped on hills he has to 'stretch' a little to get his feet on the ground.

The seat does not tilt forward anymore. Access to the battery is now a PITA. Blame it on the 6 gal gas tank and the new seat shock absorber. The new tank will not let the seat rotate forward.

It was a plain white and black police motor with red and blue lights and siren. Small top box. No baton, shotgun or M4 rifle mounts.

I didn't ask what the cost was for the motorcycle.

As an aside, I read in one of the motorcycle magazines that ALL new motorcycles will be liquid cooled in 2020. EPA and European mandate. HD has a few years to convert the Road King.
