I knew they'd never sentence him hard.

Remember that guy in the Bronx who got arrested for pointing a powerful laser at aircraft in NYC? His trial came up, and it turns out that the maximum he faces is only five years for his attempt to commit mass murder by crashing a plane.

First off, I'm pissed that the maximum for this crime is only five years. It should carry the same sentence you'd give a guy who sets a time bomb that just failed to go off. Would the Boston bomber, based on his intentions, deserve a lesser sentence is his bomb had failed to go off?

I'm also pissed because I'm pretty convinced he won't get anywhere near the maximum. When others see you don't really face scary hard time for this crime, it will only encourage more if it instead of less.

Who thinks the judge will have the balls to inflict the max, instead of feeling sorry for this man and letting him skate with an easy sentence?

Who thinks the max of 5 years is too little?
I knew they'd never sentence him hard.
