Glock 43 vs Kahr PM9 size (picture heavy)

mercredi 6 mai 2015

I posted this a while back and for some reason the thread disappeared. Never got a reason why from the admins but I thought I'd give it another shot.

While it seems like there are still a lot of G43 threads coming up comparing the G43 to either the G26 or the Shield, I think to put it in a more appropriate perspective, the G43 should be compared to the Kahr PM9 rather than those two other guns, which are heavier and bulkier. (Both are excellent guns and I own the G26 and G27 and have owned 2x Shields)

As you can see from the pictures below, the G43 is in virtually every dimension but slide length the same as the PM9 which many would consider the smallest 9mm one could reasonably get away with. (The Diamondback DB9 notwithstanding, but I don't really consider that a "ready for prime time" gun).

So in reality, the G43 is a PM9 with a slightly longer slide. (1/2" or so)

And in terms of carry, it's not about the 1/8" difference in paper
between a G26 and G43 that makes the difference. There is simply a lot less mass in the G43 in terms of a 3 dimensional footprint not to mention the weight. (more slide mass, more boolits, etc).

I'm not advocating one or the other, I have and carry both the G43 (for a couple weeks now) and the G26).

Options are a good thing.
