Story here tells of a person who came up with the design of a gun that can be made almost entirely of plastic parts on a 3-D printer. From the article:

I get that the firing pin has to be metal to ignite the primer, but always though a working gun had to have a steel barrel, to withstand the tremendous forces of the round being fired. I can't imagine any type of plastic being able to hold up to repeated firing of a large caliber round, unless this is a 22 (the article didn't mention caliber).
Anyone ever heard of an all (except firing pin) plastic gun ?
All plastic gun?

Wilson was so taken with the idea, he dropped out of law school and designed "The Liberator," the nations first pistol built exclusively on a 3-D printer, consisting of 12 separate parts made from plastic and a single metal firing pin. |
