MOS Sight Height Issue?

I was reading an article discussing iron sights for use with handguns bearing mini-red-dots that opined that the new Glock MOS system required taller iron sights than Glocks with the cut-out for the optic done to a non-MOS slide. Anyone have any insight in this issue? I like the idea of optics on my handguns as I enter Geezerhood and my eyes are...less than they were, but I also want the optics to be as low as reasonably possible and don't mind having gun smithing done to set that if necessary.
