Armslist treasure.....

samedi 21 mars 2015

I know Armslist can be good for nothing but laughs much of the time, full of $600 used Glocks and $1500 Python scams. Some times, though, you click on the site at just the right time, and there's something special, 20 minutes away, at a steal of a price, posted just minutes ago, and it's real, and you're first in line. Today was one of those days...

This is a 625-2, .45 ACP. Thing is, the -2 (there was no -1, nor a no dash) only came with a 5" barrel, and was the 'Model of 1988'

Notice the slight goof in the model marking. At first glance, I thought the '5' had been momentarily forgotten and had to be wedged in.

The 625-3, introduced as the 'Model of 1989', was available with a 3" barrel. There's some discussion on the Smith forums about this discrepancy, and the subtle differences between -2 and -3 guns. Verdict is, there aren't supposed to be any 3" -2 guns.... but there are, and it's been verified that they left the factory as such. One thought is that some left over -2 frames were utilized when they began the 1989 run.

Seller was real nice and turned me onto the mystery of this gun and explained the above to me. All I saw was a 3" N-Frame, which was special enough to me.

Sadly, no box, but the very, very good price was made all the sweeter with the inclusion of 100 rounds of Buffalo Bore .45 Super JHP and 60 rounds of Buffalo Bore .45 Auto Rim wadcutters. Best steal I've gotten on Armslist yet.
