The deliveryman ran through the mobile home park as Pigg chased him while firing more shots, wounding him in the back. The shooter then got into his own vehicle. The victim ran to a nearby home and residents called police. Meinberg said the deliveryman was conscious when taken to a hospital. As of 8 p.m. Saturday, the deliveryman was stable, Meinberg said. Police chased Pigg northbound on Interstate 55 and into Illinois. Meinberg said during the pursuit Pigg threw homemade dynamite sticks at them. The chase went from Illinois to downtown St. Louis on Highway 40 (Interstate 64) and then to Interstate 170. Police used spike strips to disable the vehicle near Page Boulevard. When police went to arrest Pigg in his vehicle he was attempting to light an explosive. Police found an explosive in his pocket and a 9mm handgun. Pigg had a backpack full of homemade explosives. “Fortunately there was no explosions and no one got injured,” Meinberg said. When asked about the bruises in Pigg’s photo, Meinberg said Pigg resisted arrest with a handgun and while potentially lighting an explosive device, and “quick action is needed in these situations to ensure safety to the officers and the public.”
