Stopped by my local indoor gun range to try out my new XS sights I put on my M26 and there was a new young guy wanting a membership. This is a LGS and range, the range guy asked him if he had any experience with firearms and the guy said no. No experience no membership and he was given a card for a local firearms trainer. At first I thought it was harsh then I remember what it was like after Sandy Hook. I went once then quit going for a long time because it was to dangerous with all the idiots that had no experience and new nothing about gun safety. The guy took it well and agreed to get some training.
I think it's a good policy, after I quit using the range I still used the LGS and would talk with the range guy, he was permanently barring several people a day for repeated safety violations. One of the most common violations was these guys had no idea how to clear a jam and would walk off the range to the counter and hand a loaded gun to the employee and ask him to fix it. After being read the riot act the same idiot would do it again and get barred, you can't fix stupid.
