Nice day out so figured me and the misses would go to the range for some practice. I was trying a drill that required repeated timed 5 shot strings. On the first shot....BOOOOOM! WTF!!! Gun fell out of my right hand into the range bag sitting underneath it on the bench.
Entire lower side of the brass case was blown out ( I assume this was the bottom unsupported portion of the brass ). It blew out the follower, spring, and bottom plate of the mag. The right side of the mag release mechanism blew out putting a nice 2" gash along my trigger finger. The right half of the trigger was blown off and the actual button that releases the mag on the left side, was pushed out hard and fast enough to dig a pretty good size tear on my thumb. also had a small gouge on the tip of my nose ( always wear those glasses ). Underwear was ruined :crying:.
This was an obvious to me double charge. I use 6.2gr of WSF behind a 230gr FMJ bullet. The brass has been reloaded several times, and the primers are Winchester. They are reloaded on a Dillon 550B. I started reloading back in the 70's and have never had any problem in all that time. Just goes to show that you can never relax and take reloading for granted.
By the way, when I got home I weighed all the remaining rounds and pulled the bullets on ones that seemed to be too heavy. All the powder charges were ok.
Bringing the parts to Glockmeister to see if it can be repaired. Otherwise I'll have to take my wife's.
PS...I know...useless without pictures....! I've never been able to post any with any luck. Hell, I still have and use a rotary phone! LOL
