I've been using a DE razor for a month now. I bought the Parker handle and have tried Shark, Derby and Personna blades with the Derby working the best for me.
Before DE, I used Barbasol original shave cream and Gillette Mach 5 blades which I bought at Sams Club.
When I priced DE blades it was absolutely cheaper, but not being able to use Barbasol ($1.25) and having to buy more expensive cream ($17) that lasts a month, the cost of DE is more per year than the Gillette/Barbasol method (which also results in less blood).
At first, I would shave and always think of my dad when I was a kid and he would shave using the DE razor. I told him I was giving this a try and he just looked at me and asked, "why?"
If I could use Barbasol at $1.25 a can that lasts a month and use DE razors and not bleed I would consider staying with DE.
Anyone have any thoughts without me spending a $100 trying to find the right cream and keep me from spending upwards of $175 a year on cream? Because I can use Gillette/Barbasol from Sams Club for $100/year and get a very close shave.
