I wondered what the average age for guys (and girls) applying for SWAT units was.
Laugh at me, but since I turned 30 two years ago, I suddenly felt really old somehow :crying:.
Here most guys apply way younger then 30, more like 25, but since a lot of them stay quite long, we have many officers around 40-45.
The 6 months of training are so intense (its more like a para military unit then a usual SWAT team), that even a lot of 25 year olds dont make it. The rules are strict and a strained ankle or broken arm usually means you are out.
I expect that I would need a year to prepare for it, including swim training, obstacle course training, lots and lots of running, plus building up more core strenght.
Sadly I have knee problems since I was 14 years old. Will go see a doc sometime soon to find out what the status is.
Any advice or experiences?
