Ugh, I am having a hell of a time finding this song.
I've got this patriotic flute song stuck in my head, and I absolutely cannot get it out. I keep playing it out loud.
Here's the problem:
-I don't know the lyrics (if there is any)
-I'm not sure what time frame in our nations history it is from, but I THINK it's from the Revolutionary War. But don't quote me on that!
I've tried looking on YouTube for it, but nothing! And it's difficult, because you click on one song, don't find it, see another song in the sidebar that you decide to try, and etc etc...and you get lost.
The best I can describe it is like...maybe, a sea-going song of old. It's lighthearted, but uplifting at the same time.
Also, the first two "lines" of the song almost repeat each other exactly, except the last note of the second line ends flat; whereas the first one ends with a slightly higher pitch, like a "quip". But I know nothing about music, so I can't tell you any notes. I don't know an F-sharp from an E-minor.
It's famously played on a steel flute, with a quick pace, and maybe drums as well.
It IS NOT:
-Yankee Doodle
-William Tell Overture
-1812 Overture
-When Johnny Comes Marching Home
-Dixieland
-Battle Hymm of the Republic
-British Grenadiers March
-Free America
-Last Night of the Proms (The Sailors Hornpipe)
Ugh...I am tired of this. Now that I think about it: maybe it's not even American. Maybe it's British?
Don't laugh, but if you can whistle this "tune" or, in my case, if you play it on the tip of your tongue, if you can read it and interpret it, it goes like this (each "E" in "De" is the sound of "E", not "eh"):
(First Line)Dee-leet de de de de de de dee, de-leet de de de-de-de dee-de,
(Second Line)Dee-leet de de de de de de dee, de-leet de de-de-de-de-de-dee-leet
(Chorus? Capitals are for "high pitched" notes) Dee-leet de de de de DE de de, de de de de de de DE-DE,
Dee-leet de de de de de de dee, dee-leet de de de de de de dee-dee
I know that looks like a jumbled bunch of letters, but it makes sense to me, and I really had to break that down.
The closest song that I can think of, that compares, is Yankee Doodle.
Help me out folks! This song is driving me nuts. I'm open to anything, just post it if you can. Thanks!
