I'm honestly curious, not trying to incite any kind of bad Cop Talk thread...
Now that that is out of the way:
How do officers know the difference between nervousness during questioning due to having something to hide versus general nervousness due to just being pulled over or otherwise having an unplanned interaction with police.
In every case I've ever been pulled over, I've been very nervous. Most often I'm nervous about the citation I'm about to get (generally deserved). I could see how then being asked about any drugs (or other illegal items) in the car, my answer could be conceived as being deceptive. I've yet to be asked this I'm assuming because I don't look like a druggie and am generally polite during the discussion but I'm still curious about it.
Could someone explain how to determine the difference?
