Am I the only one don’t feel a need for a single stack Glock?

lundi 20 avril 2015

My purpose starting this thread is for discussion only not to flame all the enthusiasts who embraced the new single stack subcompact guns. I am just curious about what is all the fuss about and wondering what am I missing?

After reading numerous threads and excitement about the new G43, I am perplexed. In theory, a lighter, smaller pistol will be more useful in EDC; however, the differences in the two models (G43 and G26) are so minuscule, I am underwhelmed. Let’s take a closer looked the specs at http://ift.tt/1F7tilZ

Specifically:

The minimal improvements (0.16” in thickness and less than 4 oz in weight) in concealability and comfort (?) at the cost of capacity is questionable at best. Not to mention, the additional cost of the G43 and all the new magazines. Perhaps, if you are purchasing your first Glock it may be viable choice. Personally, I will still buy a G26 over G43.

However, many of us already own many Glocks who stay with the Glock system because it is a “system” where the full size, compact and subcompact all can use the full-size magazine. Most of us will EDC a compact or subcompact with factory magazine for maximal concealbility, but we will carry full-size magazine(s) to increase capacity and grip comfort as backup. Now if you carry the G43, you will need an entire set of new magazines (opposite to use the existing magazine you already own) as if you switched to another “system” (Springfield Armory XD-S 3.3, the Beretta Nano, Smith and Wesson’s M&P Shield 9, the Walther PPS, the Sig Sauer P938). With the new single stack magazines, you are limited in capacity and cannot be used in other Glocks of the same caliber.

Tell me what am I missing here?
